The monastic complex of Sant Miquel del Fai is located some 30 minutes away from Barcelona, it stays hanging in the middle of a cliff emulating the bird’s nests that also inhabit those rocks.

For millenniums, the water has been modeling the shapes of the rocks, giving sometimes the aspect of being in a cave while we are actually in the open air. In addition, the complex has a high architectural value, as it contains one of the oldest Romanesque style churches in Catalonia; and another building, Casa Prioral, is one of the most representative examples of the Catalan Gothic style.

The place is not only known for its exclusive natural surroundings, it has always been an appreciated place for its medicinal plants and for the tasty liquor which have been always produced by its inhabitants, called Licor del Fai.

Located in the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range, it’s located near the villages of Sant Feliu de Codines and Sant Quirze de Safaja, not far from the town of Caldes de Montbui and only 50 km from Barcelona. Rocky cliffs elevates upon the Vallès Basin, giving the monastery a majestic looking in the middle of the wall, and having from there stunning views of the valley.
